Exporting multiple citations from Google Scholar (if you have a Google Account)

  • Go to Google Scholar and sign into your Google Account.
  • Search.
  • Click on the Star icon (Save) under each reference you want to export.

  • Then click on My Library in the top, right of the screen.

  • Select all the references and click on the Export option:

  • Choose the RefMan option.
  • Save the RIS file that is created.
Depending on which version of RefWorks you are using, either
  • select “References/Import” from the toolbar and then select RIS as the data source (Legacy RefWorks, orange logo)

 or
  • select the Plus icon, Import References (New RefWorks, blue logo)

Exporting from IEEE Xplore to RefWorks - direct export returning from 18th December

We reported last week that IEEE Xplore had removed the option to export directly to RefWorks, and that we had complained about this. The good news is so many universities complained that IEEE have changed their minds, and are restoring direct export to RefWorks from 18th December.

If you need to export in the meantime, please use the workaround.

Exporting from IEEE Xplore to RefWorks

We've noticed that IEEE Xplore no longer has an option to directly export your references to RefWorks. You can still export your references, but you will need to export your citations as RIS or BibTeX format and then when logged into RefWorks:
  •  select “References/Import” from the toolbar and then select BibTeX or RIS as the data source (Legacy RefWorks, orange logo)

  • export your citations as RIS or BibTeX format and then when logged into RefWorks, select the Plus icon, Import References (New RefWorks, blue logo)

We (and other universities) have fed back to IEEE that we are unimpressed with this change and that we would prefer direct export to be restored!

RefWorks import update

RefWorks import is nearly back to normal. However, you have to be logged in to RefWorks before you start the import process. If you start exporting from a database and have to log in as part of the process, it loses the references.

RefWorks problems update

RefWorks have reported that the importing problem is now fixed. However, we now seem to have an error trying to log in. Please bear with us while we try to get this sorted out.
